Ukraine and Russia don't actually use that much artillery in Kursk. Everybody lobs rockets from expensive systems. Probably it is too dangerous to bring a SPG close as drones, recon groups and stragglers are moving around.
Thanks a lot for all of those interesting reports! However, as one of you most faithful readers I feel like maybe you would consider lowering the sarcasm from 500% to about 90% so my brain doesn't have to read everything backwards five times over π It just takes me twice as much time to read you reports... so please ? π Not trying to tell you how to write your reports, just asking for some compation for my poor brain. π
I swear: I'm trying so hard. So hard, can't say. But I can't hold back.
....and it's really not my fault. While waiting for contacts, had nothing better to do but go checking the social-media... which is meanwhile often having similar effects upon my mind like watching TV-news (regardless what channel).
'T wasn't me, really. At least not my fault. I'm striving to improve...
Same my friend. I love you and I support your work, but sometimes I send your articles to my brothers and theyβre like βwhat? I donβt understand thisβ¦β
I vote for even more sarcastically loaded sarcasm! I am also into black humor lately. Must be all the inanity in the current campaigning for the November elections in the U.S. Utterly fatuous at times. Pimps and whores offer better service than their American political counterparts.
Yup. And... since even my map is not detailed enough: help yourself by opening Google Earth or similar service. It's easier to follow that way (especially when knowing that, geographically, all of my updates are organised clock-wise).
So are the Russians in the Donbas still getting fed the βusualβ amount of supplies and replacements? Or is the Kursk operation getting the lionβs share? How are they even still attacking and counterattacking?
There's no clear image yet. Ocheretyne-Pokrovks is still a favored direction while Heorhiivka and Kupiansk were mooted. Harkiv was activated a little bit.
Kursk was probably allocated many ISR resources and some manpower but not much artillery or armored formations.
I would say: Russikies, keep on pushing everywhere! It is much more stronger to hit not with a fist, but with spread fingers! So, they have to continue to push everywhere from Korenevo to Krynkyπ₯΄
The 30th Motor-Rifle is still pushing into Pokrovsk, 'like mad'. Krasnohorivka is almost completely under the Russian control.
But, excuse me if I do not get 'sufficiently upset', 'at least curious' to report about another tree-line or hedgerow, if the Russians are successful losing 'a battalion plus 2 villages a day' in Kursk...
At Pokrovsk orcs had gained almost all βemptyβ terrain and now are facing very tide aglomerations. Fingers crossed for ZSU: in case no huge tactical mistakes will be made, frontline there will be frozen for months
Always fun when the media starts crying about Ukraine pulling back to fundamentally superior defensive positions, huh? I'd have liked the Vovcha line to hold, but keep on stretching your logistics, orcs...
Ty for the post btw. Love it. Some analysts saying doom and gloom still for this offensive since the Russians are still advancing snails pace in Ukraine but I do feel the Kursk operation is for something worthwhile.
Now that the FSB have control of this battle, it is theirs to lose. While they will blame the army for the failures, it will likley burn up FSB political capital and resources, might make for some interesting palace intrigue in the next couple of years.
Any prediction that "X will make the Russians see that Y" isn't worth the wear on the keyboard to type. Russians will keep believing whatever they want to believe no matter what.
As I said "might", so not a predication by any means, more of a possibility. With FSB now controlling the battle, it means that in the future both can be blamed for failures around it , as opposed to just the army. That might mean the FSB loses some political leverage over the other power factions in the Kremlin.
Well, their army is showing itself to be a mess for many years straight, and the consequences are minuscule by comparison. Their political class is known to be rotten to the core. Putin himself came to power by blowing up citizens, started a war with what should have been their best ally, will clearly destroy Russia even more thoroughly before he's done.
There's so much blame to go around with culprits being obvious and clearly responsible yet it all amounted and will continue to amount to nothing.
Since FSB took control of the situation, theyβve proven Einstein (or whoever) that only human stupidity has no boundaries.
Anyway, apart from the idiotic decisions on the battlefield, another plus (albeit quite smaller to the generalissimoβs talents of FSB) is the silencing of the z-telegram propagandists. Not that they were some free media, or fourth estate or whatever, but still since Girkin and Prigozhin there was some streak of criticism towards the military leadership (maybe because they are mostly FSBshniks but anyway there was critique). Their collective panicking had some influence from time to time over the generals.
Now they donβt dare criticize FSB, there is no panic, we donβt know what is going on but thatβs not a problem for the ZSU operation in Kursk.
Well, I've read that the one in Sudzha was successfully decommunized. Probably more to come - at least now we know what the REAL aim of this operation was.
Tom, I feel that ZSU has to get either behind the Orel-Kursk line or behind the Kursk-Belgorod line to be in position to seriously threaten Russian logistic to the South and relieve the pressure from Pokrovsk.
Tom, just saw your update - on the other side the Z-prop team was quick to release a video with their troops hanging around the Korenevo sign. Could have been a farewell photo but I doubt it. Not that there position is getting better.
Thanks Tom. Sounds like the wildschweinjagd is going well on that side of the border. Do you know what the artillery fire intensity is from the ZSU?
There's very little Russian artillery (yet) and 'enough' Ukrainian artillery (and shells).
Ukraine and Russia don't actually use that much artillery in Kursk. Everybody lobs rockets from expensive systems. Probably it is too dangerous to bring a SPG close as drones, recon groups and stragglers are moving around.

I have to disagree with OP. Please don't force yourself to change anything, just write whichever way you feel like writing. We value the authenticity.

It's an acquired taste
Keep it this way. It means that there is still someone βnormalβ in our post-factual era ;)

Hah hah hah hah . . . and the customers like them even more, especially the working ladies! **LOL**
I love this sarcastic way of explaining situation/events.

Andrew Perpetua's map has location pins linking to photos and videos. Might be a tad better than plain Google Maps to use.

I did open google maps a lot Tom and forcing my brain to interpret your meaning as always opposite π
The map from ISW could be a good tool, too ; its search with a name of village is quite good

You can't expect them reacting that fast, especially as everything is under control.
Thanks Tom good report
Letβs encourage the Ukrainians to continue withdrawing as they do right now

Not having an Aleksandrovka every 20 km would be like not having a Lenin street or square (or both) in every village. Totally unacceptable.
BTW, there's also at least 4 Lyubimovkas in Kursk oblast alone.
And there are the ubiquitous Lenin statues, still after everything! We have the best one the Soviets made in Seattleβs Fremont district.
Well, I've read that the one in Sudzha was successfully decommunized. Probably more to come - at least now we know what the REAL aim of this operation was.
Every time your sarcasm reaches these levels, it is the best proof that the Russian troops and commanders make a lot of smart decisions.
A Sarcast-O-meter should be introduced based on your reports in order to be able to assess the daily form of the Russian troops. :D
Your unique blend of brutal, unrelenting sarcasm is a breath of fresh air in these turbulent times ππ. Please continue.

Well, if the Russians are short on manpower, which they are, any new operation with high casualties weakens them.
Tom, just saw your update - on the other side the Z-prop team was quick to release a video with their troops hanging around the Korenevo sign. Could have been a farewell photo but I doubt it. Not that there position is getting better.
Whatever Russians were around that road sign: the I Battalion 810th NIB run away from Korenevo, yesterday. The 225th captured their company commander.
Residents of the Kursk region speak Ukrainian, it's just that muscovites think that this is their strange dialect
