Their estimate of Ukrainian casualties is a little more than half of the Russian casualties, which is 57,500 killed and 250,000 wounded.

Dear Don, according to official data of UA government, number of missing UAF soldiers is 55.000, up from 42.000 in July 2024 (July- September 2024, 13.000 missing added), those figures does not count dead soldiers. You very well know that proportion between missing/dead is always 1-5 , up to 1-10 ( you should be knowledgeable about proportions of missing/dead casualties in any convectional war) You should try to put your narrative more balanced and not to pick up information's that suit you and narrative to please the readers. Unfortunately reality is much worse than you present.

The article is about 42K of missing Ukrainians - not about 65K of missing soldiers.

"The register contains information about 55,000 people. Most of them are military personnel. This figure is quite dynamic: when the whereabouts of missing persons are established, in some cases, it turns out that a citizen, for example, is in captivity," Tymchenko said.

4000 UAF are confirmed in captivity , easy to find as well this figure in article.

"Unfortunately, we also identify the dead among those who were considered missing," he added.

The latest figure shows a considerable growth since July, when the Interior Ministry revealed that 42,000 Ukrainians were considered missing.

This number does not include Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia, Belarus, or occupied territories, whose numbers exceed 19,500.

So where is the "number of missing UAF soldiers is 55.000"?

I can't help you if you reject what is written by official UA sources. What do you not understand? 55.000 missing people, excluding children and PoW....? Mosty UAF as stated.

Missing people include civilians

It is astonishing to see such ignorance, unfortunately. How many civilians is your estimate out of 55.000? Even is half the number are civilians still you have some 30.000 soldiers. 13.000 increase in numbers from July to September 2024 knowing that places occupied by the Russians were emptied by the civilians. Do you think that family ( wife or mother) will report as missing someone who deserted from the army? You and me arguing will not change the sad reality neither the course of the war. I just pointed that each Don report, same as Tom is about victories of UAF while we see that , unfortunately, UAF is loosing more and more grounds and having huge problems to find the soldiers to fill up all gaps on front line. Have a nice day

First, it's unclear what is included in the U.S. estimates or the date of those reports. They might include some of the soldiers listed as MIA.

Second, there has been talk of around 100,000 deserters, many of whom could be considered missing, especially in recent months.

Third, the Russian Federation (RF) army also has many missing soldiers, who are likely not accounted for in the estimates.

Fourth, it's very difficult to obtain accurate numbers from the RF. For instance, many soldiers initially reported as missing or even dead were later found in captivity.

Let's avoid speculating about the numbers.

>> With Ukrainian families already dealing with higher costs and lower income, it is an unpopular bill.

- That's ordinary noise around any political decision. The extra 3.5% tax is not a game-changer in the country where about 40% of salaries go directly to taxes, on top of the 20% VAT.

Is it confirmed that both suffered heavy damage?

Moscow said the attack destroyed a radar, a command vehicle, two launchers and killed some soldiers. A Ukrainian politician said that the strike damaged another Patriot battery and it wasn’t the first one. A Ukrainian air force spokesman said the politician's comments as "no better demotivator for a Ukrainian soldier or potential recruit." He maintained that the battery sustained non-critical damage to a few pieces of equipment and was still in operation.

Minor note: Hexamine is not itself an explosive, but it is the precursor for RDX and HMX, so very important for weapons production.

"Russia has been attacking international shipping near Odesa. A ship flying the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis was picking up grain when it was hit by a missile. Then a Palauan container ship was hit. After that, the Panamanian Shui Spirit was hit."

Pity than Don again (what a suprise) cite UA sources without detailed plundging. All these international shippings are UA vessels under the flags of convenience. One of the ships lost 6 sailors dead and 9 injured. All of them were... Ukranians. The ship also suffered secondary explosions. It took Russians almost 3 yearscto realise that it'ls important to hit UA ships in Odessa that bring arms to Ukraine. Better late than never.

So, it's ok for the Russians to strike neutral shipping, but not the Houthis.

NYT: "Okay, take a lowball estimate of russian fatalities, then plug in a pessimistic count of Ukrainian fatalities, and great! We've got a 2:1 ratio, letting us imply that Ukraine is suffering more and sadly has to give up. We can't have any resources that Israel might desire go to Ukraine."

How public facts in America are manufactured. Rarely do you get outright lies, just misrepresentations meant to sell the most convenient narrative for our fragile oligarch class.

Between Woodward and New York Times, Americans will never lack for fairy tales.
