It’s a great phrase, Tom. It’s demonstrative that, in an effort to hurt no one’s feelings they hurt everyone.

Western/American potential “allies” must look with real concern over the effectiveness of such an alliance!

Israel: Biden is boxed in by domestic politics, must support Israel in public while trying in private to stop the religious zealots running the country. Not being seen to support Israel will be seen as supporting Muslim terrorists by way too large a segment of US voters... and if you don't win elections you can do nothing. Real-politik, but I share your frustration and anger. IMO it's not about donors. Both he and Obama loathe Bibi.

Ukraine: MAGA Mike Johnson. That's it. Biden would turn over the keys to the bank if he could... Z but he can't.

The “uncommitted” voters in the primary are also showing that Biden is losing its left-wing voters who will stay home in November. He doesn’t need to be that much of an extreme Israel-supporter, he could be a critical ally. Too bad for him, Trump it will be!

In terms of domestic politics, the majority of American voters supported a ceasefire when the US government was still veto'ing it at the UN. The Christian Zionist evangelicals (the true zombies, actually, since their brains were hollowed out by the ideology of the Schofield Bible circa 1967) don't vote Democrat and are irrelevant to the Ds from an electoral point of view.

Biden is constrained by Muslim voters, actually in Michigan, which is a swing state. But on the other hand he's taken fistfuls of money from lobbyists. The difference between Johnson et al and Biden et al is the former are hyper-loyal to Israel and the latter are super-loyal.

Netanyahu has never forgiven the Democrats for Obama's "audacity" in his (independently developed ? - shock) policy of rapprochement with Iran. Biden is a doddering old apparatchik trying to play chess with a master demagogue, thinking he can get leverage over Israel to moderate its atrocities, but Israel can only benefit from a Trump victory, so he in fact has no leverage at all. Oh dear. Zombie idiotism indeed.

Regarding Bidens Israel politics you have a point. I do think that the Ukraine politic could and should have been more supportive.

Great writeup, it's infuriating to see all those weaponry to be shipped to Israel to be used against some terrorist armed with AKs (and of course to level the most densely populated area of the planet) when there is a major war ongoing that can very well decide the fate of the standing world order involving the second most powerful nation of the globe... I'm so mad but I can't do anything about demented old men leading the world I know into a collapse where the solution is well within their grasp.

I agree with every word of this (well, not so sure about Tom getting younger).

Let me tell you: the only thing really shocking for me about that with age is whenever I find out just how many 'old' people - are of my age... 😉

It’s a good piece but what happened to the lend-lease? I remember that the Congress passed it. Can’t Ukraine order directly from Raytheon with funds from EU or other sources?

Unfortunately I have to agree. I still can't believe we've learned (almost) nothing in the last century... The deep gap between rhetoric and reality is threatening even to a seasoned parachutist... and it's deeper and deeper every day...

Hello, another great piece, and thank You. Tom, I have one question doh. Is it possible to put one of the MIM launchers (or just part of it with 2-4 rockets)? And so to make it mobile for some kind of patrol "near" the front. When a target is presented to radars (and/or awacs), the radar sends a targeting solution to the mobile unit, orders it to stop and fire. After schuss mobile unit resumes its patrol. Thx and cheers.

Of course it is - and that's regularly done, too.

Trump alone got no power at all. It's those elected persons that give preference to their careers over the future of their country.

The problem is that the republicans in Congress does allow Trump to have power.

I shall henceforth be using this phrase to describe the state of British politics - though it's a tragedy for so many that it applies through every major western state. At heart I always feel that those who involve themselves in politics (as politicians, as opposed to observers like me) do so in general with the best of intentions. The paradox is that to involve yourself in politics you must believe you can - and indeed SHOULD - be someone who can make the world a better place for others, a position of such arrogance and vanity that most of us recoil in horror at the mere thought. I suppose we get the politicians we deserve. Muß jetzt leider los in meine deutsch Gesprächsgruppe! Tschüß!

You've got Phoenix: Space Chapter (the 1987 movie) for growing younger.

And you may like The Dead Don't Die as a research on zombie behavior.

Polemics are deserved but let's not exclude the possibility there's reasoning along with the stupidity. One theory: the DC "Blob" has decided Ukraine is a protracted speed bump for the Russians, and will have to be negotiated away within a year or so, and Israel is getting what it's getting to deter Iran more than genocide the Gazans. The real idiots are the American people who tolerate the corruption of their system, with the existence of such entities as, but not limited to, AIPAC.

US$ 4.3 million is not important for Biden, so Biden is not corrupted by it. (You know, that's not about that Zionist rule the world.) The reasons of USA establishment behavior lay somewhere else.

But, the way things are... sigh... have started a collection for a Shark UAV, for the 3rd SSO, back in February - but on the Facebook only. I'll re-post that here, so that everybody is informed.

As the late Henry Kissinger famously said: "It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal."

He knew well what he was talking about. Ukraine (and Europe) is finding out.
