Israel bans Antonio Guterres from entering to the country. The country which owes own appearance to the United Nations bans its chief. O tempora! O mores!

Per an article at Haaretz, Israel is admitting to some damage to military facilities, but no equipment or personnel or negative impact on operations.

They also are trumpeting the damages to 'over 100 homes, a school, and other civilian facilities.'

Without, of course, noting whether the civilian damage was the result of a direct hit (except for the school) or a deflection due to the missile being intercepted or from debris due to a more successful interception which destroyed the missile.

It is rather like the IDF's announcements that with a 'precision strike' they hit a car in Lebanon carrying a local Hezbollah commander and then hearing the latest update from Hamas in Gaza include the piece that a Palestinian journalist, her husband, and two children were killed by an Israeli missile strike on their home which Israel then claims was an 'errant' missile.

As an aside, there must be something incredibly attractive to Hamas command about schools in Gaza - it seems that everyday the IDF announces another successful strile on one in a 'safe zone' that killed Hamas commanders planning operations against the IDF. With, of course, a dozen (or two, or three, or more) civilian 'collateral' casualties.

One almost wonders if Hamas posts fliers announcing their meeting at the school for the IDf to find and then goes and meets in one of the bombed out apartment buildings knowing the IDF will attack the school. That would fit the view that Hamas wants to see civilian casualties for propaganda purposes. The reality is that Israel targets indiscriminately and claims there was a valid military target for each strike. And it is always a 'senior' member of Hamas/Hezbollah/etc. A Haaretz cartoon from early in Gaza had one Hamas member calling to another as a missile (or bomb) targeted hime that - 'We'll soon see how important you were...'
