Hopeless because to my mind if Ukraine does not recuperate its international borders of 1991, if somebody negociates with the ruzzian killers who have transgressed each and every line of all bilateral and multilateral treaties, who are waging an active genocidal war of destruction against a nation, state, identiy and territory (ecocides), Europe will be in tatters. Hopeless because there is not ONE international organization from the Red Cross, OSCE, United Nations and its vassals, international financial institutions which has thrown out this dehumanized, racist, antisemitic, corrupt, violent state and nation. The ICJ is not willing to issue an international mandate against Putler because of genocide against Ukrainians ! Not one is willing with the exception of the Council of Europe. Not even the OPCW though in its November report is stated the proof that ruzzia is using chemical weapons on the front. There is only blablabla. These organizations are not taking actions. Why ? Well, there are not even 40 fully functioning organizations in the United Nations. Sooner or later criminal regmimes like ruzzia or China and their followers will take the upper hand. Every cent that Pudding has been investing in desinformation campaigns since 2000 was well invested. Pierre Lavals are everywhere. Quislings are everywhere. Facts no longer count, but only opinions. The world is ready to give up Ukraine and with this state and nation freedom, democracy, civil society and a functioning justice system. Everything the UN does is humbug. Guterres' United Nations have developped into a ruzzian narratif reproducing machine. The world of today would have courted Hitler and his government, would have bowed to the chiefs of concentration and death camps and would have looked away over the dead bodies of millions. Environmental organization, are shutting up despite of the many ecocides the ruzzians commit in Ukraine : there is no campaign, nothing though the street of Kerch is polluted, a damn flooded a whole region with 100 000 Ukrainians displaced and the cultures devastated, the mining and polluting of the soil for 100 years. --- That is why it is hopeless.

No. It was not always like this. How wrong you are. Germany was forced to a military capitulation. It has been forced to demilitarize and there was an effort to put war criminals in front of a judge. There was an effort to reflect on history and on the criminal and hiduous acts which were committed by deciders and by the population. There was an effort to distinguish between direct culpability and responsability. There was an effort to start a process of reflection. Only this enables a state and nation to discernment. Lately a woman having been a young secretary in a death camp was condemned to a sentence for not having assisted the victims. --- ruzzia, the USSR and the Federation of ruzzia have been committing abject crimes, mass murder (remember Chechnya only) and nobody has ever been convicted. Today nothing will be done. As long as ruzzia (with the exception of a handful of people) is incapable of thinking, discerning and looking itself in the mirror and look at the mountains of dead bodies they have left behind and whose numbers are growing every minute, there will be danger. --- A glance at Syria and the late regime, the use of chemical arms and the assassination of ten of thousands and the silence of the West is another indication how rotten the West is. To not "anger" the ruzzian killers, the politicians shut up. Read Carla Del Ponte.

If you do not make a difference between a full scale war of destruction with genocidal intention implemented and other forms of war, I cannot help you and your considerations are deficient of expertise. The reflection on WW2 and its consequences was a watershed. --- As to Pol Pot, two leaders of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia have been convicted of genocide in 2018. The larger-scale killings of the Cambodian population did not fit the narrow definition of genocide under international law and have instead been prosecuted as crimes against humanity. As to Franco, the trajectory of justice in Spain regarding the crimes of Francoism has reached a pivotal juncture in 2023. Recent legal developments (Democratic Memory Act and the establishment of a specialized Prosecutor’s Office), signify a shift towards embracing accountability and upholding human rights standards from the executive and the legislative powers. The pact of oblivion or silence (pacto del olvido or pacto del silencio) is thankfully over in this country --- . Of course "it is not as it always were" as you write. But we are going back to barbary behind the very achievements since WW2 in this regard. With ruzzia and China not being held accountable for their crimes.
