I can't get my head around the fact that half a million Russians have been killed, or seriously wounded in the war and we don't hear anything about it. If even 500 soldiers were killed in any western country today there would be outrage. It would be in the headlines of all newspapers, for several months. Yet, we hear nothing from Russia.
Russians don't use cost/benefit analysis when they do something like Putin did on 24 Feb 2022.
The mass of Russians just aren't heirs to the western intellectual tradition of making rational decisions based on evidence.. The average Russian (and that's where Putin comes from), when he wants revenge, doesn't calculate how much that will cost him, or whether it's a good idea. He just follows his rage.
Stalin has killed tens of millions of Russians - and they still celebrate him as the greatest president. Why? Because he made others to fear Russia. That's the Russian obsession - everybody else must fear Russia, for any cost.
ZSU announced that it has moved from Krynki to a better protected location (rumors - somewhere in Kozachi Lopani). But in your update you imply that ZSU is still in Krynki. Are you sure?
What troubles me, is the inability of Ukraine to exploit that beachfront. It seems that they are content with attracting (and attriting) Russian forces, but that's not enough
That's why I am saying about "inability". I am not accusing Ukraine's army, I am venting my unhappiness about the current situation in this place.
Having the UKR Marines suffering for months in this wasteland without much concrete gain in territory doesn't sound the best utilization of them to me.
And they haven't been able to cut the road after all these months (to make Russian logistics miserable).
Serving as a honeypot must be quite a miserable task.
FSB director is Alexandr Bortnikov since 2008. So, Patrushev was demoted in 2008 already, now is demoted a bit more. That's a wise way how to demote a former ally not to turn him into enemy.
I've read that the judge rejected appeals to release Popov.
Tthanks for the report Don . .

I agree I also can not imagine that the Russian people aren't getting feed up with these loses

Why Russia wins some wars--and loses others...

How would you exploit it when Russia has aerial superiority?

> "the FSB has assumed the control of the GenStab and thus the armed forces in Russia"
-- Now I wonder who is "the FSB" as Patrushev has been demoted.

Thanks especially for the info about Bain, etc. Figures don't lie, but liars sure do figure.
