Russia

Over 10,000 Russians have been charged with refusing to serve since the beginning of the war. Some were given show trials and prison sentences. Most were given suspended sentences and returned to their units. While the rate of refusal is rising and worth watching, it is still a very small number in a big war.

Three drones were aimed at an oil depot in Azov. One crashed into a stairway, doing little damage. Another crashed into a tank but did not start a fire. A third hit a tank that burned for over two days despite ongoing efforts to extinguish it. It then spread to a second tank. Due to western aggression, Russia removed troops on the Baltic border and withdrew 80% of its troops from the Finnish border. In response to these military moves by Russia, NATO nations as far away as Spain are holding on to their air defense systems, artillery and other weapons systems to protect themselves from these withdrawals.

At one time, Russia joined the US in UN sanctions against Iranian and North Korean nuclear programs. Putin’s visit to North Korea highlighted their determination to defend against the US neocolonialist dictatorship and U.S. economic pressure, provocation, blackmail and military threats.
