The number of times I've said that to myself... but it's apparently really hard to build up enough force without being noticed.
Efficiency of tactical defense just keeps getting better as the years pass. Part of why I'm pretty sure the operational scale has to get either a lot smaller but deeper or dramatically wider.
Multiple fast moving small units, protected by interceptor drones and mobile, targeted and efficient EW. They swarm at a breakthrough, using speed and surprise to strike through the enemy line and around behind them.
Now of course, multi-layered defence, the wrong spectre of EW and a dozen other things could go wrong but...at least it's unexpected 🤷🏼♂️.
I'm with you - that's the essential tactical level rhythm. A big challenge as sustaining that swarming action day in and day out, which bleeds into the territory of operations - questions like, is breaching along a narrow front more efficient, or overwhelming the enemy across a wider area?
Terrain dependent, obviously. But definitely a topic good wargaming ought to help understand.
You would think they wouldn't drive around in a BMP with the back doors and hatches open, but about half the drone hits show that. Must get pretty hot inside.
Heck of an exposed flank at Pishchane. If they could pincer that from both sides, that would be a neat little defeat 👍
That would make sense, there and in other places, but it doesn't happen.

Or the scale tips the other way.
