Namely: there are next to no ‘Syrian troops’ involved in the offensive on al-Bukamal. IRGC’s Liwa Fatimioun, Harakat an-Nujba, Harakat Hezbollah, and Hezbollah/Lebanon, supported by Russian engineers, artillery, and air power — yes.
The only ‘Syrian’ unit that might be present anywhere in the area of al-Bukamal appears to be the 800 Battalion of the Republican Guards Division (company-sized outfit, and then the last Assadist unit still equipped with T-72s).
