Ukraine War, 3 February 2026: All's fine in Zele's La-La-Land..
Good morning everybody!
Once again, found myself seating here by my desk, trying to have my first cup of cappuccino in the morning - and watching the Russians savaging the Ukrainian energy infrastructure. In real time. So much so, I am quite sure at least a few of us serious enough to be aware of the consequences will be discussing this for the rest of our lives.
…because, that’s how long is it going to take to repair all the damage caused just in this one strike.
…because, precisely as assessed several times the last year, Zele’s fighting the war by winning likes in the social media is no strategy at all. It’s neither serving the purpose of protecting the Ukrainian energy production, nor the supply of energy to factories manufacturing arms and ammunition. Just like deliveries of additional SAMP-Ts and Patriots are no replacements for missiles necessary to make these work and defend Ukraine: because even 150 Patriot systems would be entirely useless if they have no missiles to fire.
…and similar other, ‘illogical’, ‘nonsensical’ and similar conclusions, all of which, at least in the minds of all of Zele-fans abroad, is a clear confirmation for either
a) me now working for the FSB, or
b) using contacts/sources working for the FSB.
Where I cannot but wonder: and, what if not only me, or contacts/sources, but anybody reporting anything negative about Zele’s La-La-Land is now working for the FSB?
Ah well… the action of the last night and this morning went something like this:
In the evening, the Russians deployed Smerch multiple rocket launchers to hit the Kharkivska 330kV substation in Kharkiv.
Then, as usually, the Russians deployed dozens of Geran-2s to busy the PSU, and then, early this morning, the main strike followed, including:
- 30 Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched (mostly from near Taganrog),
- 18 Kh-32s (from 6 Tu-22M-3s),
- 15 Kh-101s from Tu-95s underway over the Caspian Sea,
- 6 Kh-101s from Tu-95s underway over the Vologda Oblast,
- 12 Kalibrs, and
- 2 Zircons.
Sure, the Ukrainian air defences have shot down lots of Gerans. However, when the missiles came in, all the PSU was able of doing was to shot down 6 Kh-101s and 3 Iskander-Ms (or S-400s used as decoys) - mostly over Kyiv, where the launch of some 6-7 PAC-SAMs was observed, together with 1-2 intercepts and one miss:
Thus the mass of the Russian missiles went through.
The reason is that, actually, the PSU is de-facto out of SAMs. Or at least: the last few that were around didn’t make too much difference. Unsurprisingly, the list of what was not hit would be shorter than the list of what was hit - which, AFAIK, is looking something like this:
Kyiv 750kV substation: 3 Kh-32s,
Trypillya thermal power plant: 6 Kh-32 + 6 Kh-101s;
CHP-3 heating & PP (in Kyiv, used for industrial- and railway purposes);
CHP-4 heating & PP: 2 Iskanders;
CHP-5 heating & PP: 4 Iskanders;
Prydniprovska PP smashed by 18 Iskander-Ms;
Bar 330kV electrical substation (Vinnytsia): 6 Kalibrs;
Kharkiv TEC-5 heating & PP: 3 Iskanders;
Zmiivska PP (Kharkiv): 4 Iskanders;
something else outside Pavlohrad (Dnipropetrovsk): 1 Iskander…
Additionally, the Russian Geran-2 attack-UAVs have hit:
Zaporizka 750kV substation;
Chernomorka 110kV substation (Chernomorsk);
substations in Kryvyi Rih and Dnipropetrovsk; and, just for example,
something in Kharkiv (video below),
and something in Dnipropetrovsk (video below).
This is all ah-so-surprising and was so unexpected, and generally: all’s perfectly fine with Zele’s La-La-Land... where the pres was busy declaring the IRGC a terrorist organisation, while the foreign minister was upset about the FIFA-boss loudly thinking about letting Russia re-join the Football World Championship (to be held in the USA, this summer). After all, the Zele Admin simply has better things to do and winning a re-election through collecting likes in the social media remains its most important business.

No amount of AA's will suffice to protect any kind of static target in the long term, even if Zele along with whole Rada shat with concrete slabs 24/7 since 2022.
The only thing that would really help is demolishing Russian military factories and more strict sanctions, embargo preferably. Neither is achievable by Ukraine alone. Of all people here you should know it better than anyone, Mr. Cooper.
Russia is European problem, but somehow Europe is still is too busy sucking Kremlin's oil and sniffing its natural gas, not to mention other rare-earth resources.
As a native russian-speaking inhabitant of Crimea who was forcefully occupied in 2014 among many others: you are weak, timid and docile, Europe. Will you ever wake up?
The Zelenskyi bashing is getting tiresome Tom, to me I find it distracts from the real meat of your analysis and reporting.
He's by no means perfect, but it seems to me that now you're just de-legitimizing and bashing Zelenskyi every chance you get, with no view as to the effect of doing so. It's near impossible in the eyes of the public in the 'West' to separate Zelenskyi and Ukraine, what hurts Zelenskyi also hurts Ukraine right now, wrong as that may be, it is what it is.
There is at long last a competent person in charge of defense, but he's not had time to effect any system-wide changes.
Zelenskyi's made plenty of mistakes, especially keeping Yermak around for so long, and like it or not, he's running a democratic state and must keep an eye on internal politics - which used to be Yermak's job. With Tymoshenko actively working to break up the majority in VK, with an eye on future elections (she and Poroshenko were both approached by Trump advisors eyeing a coup against Zelenskyi), he has to deal with that added dimension. He is not as omnipotent as some believe.
I think you know that we have Yermak's protection of Mindich to thank for substations not being fortified. Did Zelenskyi know about this, should he have known? We don't know, how much micro management can you do when running a country at war for six years without a break?
Was he naive in trusting Yermak? 100% yes.
The reason there are less Patriots and SAMs is due to the failings of the US and Europe, where this narrative of Zelenskyi and a fistful of dollars (as seen on your FB today) is being used to slow down support for Ukraine even further.
If you have intel on Ukrainian SAM manufacturers being starved or hindered please share that. I am personally unaware of any Ukrainian Patriot manufacturers.
What exactly are you expecting from Zelenskyi here? He can't magic up a bunch of SAM missiles, or money - which they were dangerously low on at the end of last year.
As to FIFA and IRGC
FIFA talks about letting Russia back in and you don't want any focus on that?
IRGC follows EU designation of them as a terrorist organization a few days ago, is it all possible these things are related?
