Hello everybody!
Thanks to your willingness to help (which continues to surprise not only me, but everybody involved, almost every single day), ‘this blog’ became quite a ‘hub’ for presenting the work of numerous private initiatives to help Ukraine - both the people and the armed forces.
Indeed, the last time we’ve requested your help with donations for the Ukraine Assistance Organisation, you were nothing but amazingly generous - and the organisation has received several sign-ups for recurring donations of US$50 a month.
Thanks so much!
We’re all actually sorry to ask for the same again: sadly, the situation is such that the need is growing. Everyone who relies on grants is feeling the crunch in Ukraine. Dumpf cutting off aid via USAID has made everything even more competitive: it could be that this was inept and corrupt, but it was providing lots of funding that was reaching aid organisations actually doing the work on the ground. It would’ve been better to reform it than decapitate it.
The way things are, there’s no other option but to fill the resulting ‘gap’.
I know, this is likely to sound ‘overambitious’. Even in grand total, we all - you as readers of this blog, the people you enable to help through your donations, and the people writing for this blog - are all a ‘small gang’. Still, the point is rather simple, actually: you and us are doing what we can.
Therefore, here a request by Benjamin:
Since our last appeal for help, the situation has become even more difficult. Nearly all of USAID’s programs in Ukraine have been shut down. While we did not receive money directly from USAID, the impact is being felt across the entire humanitarian sector: the "pie" of available aid funding has shrunk dramatically, and all organizations are now competing for fewer resources.

Yet we continue our work in southern Ukraine. Our teams operate in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson — often dangerously close to the front lines — delivering free medications to underserved villages and towns. At the end of last year, we expanded our efforts to include services for Ukrainians with disabilities, providing much-needed assistance free of charge.

Many of Tom’s readers have already been incredibly generous. Some of you have even set up recurring donations — helping us a little each month. These recurring gifts are especially important. They provide a rare, reliable funding stream we can use to plan ahead, keep our teams equipped, and respond quickly to changing conditions on the ground. In a world where nothing is guaranteed, this kind of steady support means everything.

Finally, I want to thank Tom personally. Because he has allowed me to share the needs of UAO and the Ukrainian people with you, we have raised more than $7,000 so far. I encourage you to also support Tom’s fundraising efforts. Every contribution — whether to UAO, to Tom’s projects, or to others working for Ukraine’s survival — strengthens Ukraine’s resilience and its future.
Thank you again for standing with us.

Now lets see if I can upload any of three videos about the work of the UAO, Benjamin has kindly provided (and if they work)… simply never did this before on the blog:

SPECIAL THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUOUS SUPPORT!
Done. Thanks for what you do.
Probably also worth pointing out that $5 or $50 or whatever one is able to donate goes a long way in Ukraine.
