And, yes: it’s nothing but frustrating to say it, but: due to systemic incompetence of the Ukrainian political- and military-leadership, there’s ever more need in the country. Thanks to your support, UAO (Ukraine Assistance Organization) has been able to provide life-saving medicine to some of Ukraine's most vulnerable people. In recent months, we’ve expanded our mission to address an urgent, unmet need: helping people with disabilities. Recognizing this gap, members of our team have begun learning sign language, and we’re growing both our staff and our reach to ensure we can serve as many people as possible. This work is vital, but we need your help to keep it going.

Winter in Ukraine is brutally harsh, made worse by an enemy that intentionally targets infrastructure. Our team works very close to the front. Too close. They work in southern Kherson and Mykolayiv. Over the river, in occupied Ukraine, there is constant fighting. Enemy drones and artillery target civilians and aid workers back across the river. Here is a recent Instagram post about a trip to Kherson:

There is a fully developed Ukrainian Sign Language (USL) that is specifically designed for the Ukrainian language and culture. It plays a vital role in the lives of Deaf Ukrainians, providing them with a unique and complete linguistic system to communicate effectively:
