I would only use 'NATO', not 'EU': EU is 'not really a defence pact' (even if members have an obligation to help defend each other), nor a 'political union' (at least not yet), but an economic- and related-standards-union.
Anyway, my point is this: there are sanctions and these have to be applied. That's simply a matter of consequent application of law.
....and it's about the time to stop giving in to Putin's blackmails, too (indeed: this is about the time since 8+ years). Don't worry: he'll be the first to give in when seeing it's not working. On the contrary, always giving in is only emboldening him.
