However, Iraq's defence sector of 1980 was underdeveloped to the degree where it took it billions of investment and 5-6 years to start manufacturing just mortar ammo in sufficient numbers.
....and Iran's defence sector of 1980 was at least as good as Ukrainian of 2022.
In turn, Iranian air force demolished the Iraqi oil industry, early during the war (and to degree where this didn't recover even 10 years later), while Iraqi failed to demolish the Iranian oil industry before the spring 1988 - which meant that Tehran had absolutely no problem with financing its counter-invasion for years.
On the contrary, I hope I need not describing the Russian defence- and oil/gas-sectors.
Thus, the fundaments of warfare in these two conflicts are fundamentally different.
