Let me tell you what I see as 'solutions' to the 're-arming Ukraine dillema'.
My starting point is this: this war is going to be decided on the battlefield. NOT through negotiations. There is no other way of 'convincing' Putin that he can't destroy Ukraine, but through the destruction of his military forces in Ukraine. Only once these are destroyed can Putin be forced into giving up: otherwise, he can go on keeping this war 'alive' for ages.
This means that the aim of the war must be as complete destruction of the RFA as possible.
Short of deployment of nuclear weapons for this purpose - obviously: a no solution for anyhting - this means that Ukraine needs as much firepower as it can get.
Firepower on the battlefield of this scope and size is delivered by artillery: not by any cruise missiles, nor even by air power (see fighter-bombers). Artillery can deliver much more firepower in terms of weight and precision than any other means. This is also why the RFA is, 'traditionally', an 'artillery-centric' armed force.
Now, how to counter such a force? Simplest way is artillery, and then artillery that can shoot over longer range, yet deliver even more high explosive, and with better precision (longer range is necessary in order to make it impossible for the Russians to strike back).
Therefore, long-range howitzers, but especially multiple rocket launchers outranging such systems like BM-21, BM-27, and BM-30 in Russian service - are 'the solution' for Ukraine.
